Benign neoplasms of the eye, orbit, and adnexa (DC 6015)

Body system: EyeRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.79

This covers non-cancerous growths (benign tumors) in and around your eyes, but not skin cancers on the eyelids. The VA rates this condition from 0% to 100% based on how much it affects your vision in the unaffected eye, whether the tumor is still growing (active), or how often you need treatment for complications. Higher ratings go to veterans whose tumors cause severe vision loss in the other eye or require frequent medical visits.

Rating levels

  • -1% — Benign (non-cancerous) growths of the eye, orbit (eye socket), or adnexa (surrounding structures including the eyelids, tear ducts, and conjunctiva) are rated under 38 CFR § 4.79 based on any resulting visual impairment, or by analogy to disfigurement (DC 7800) when the growth produces visible disfigurement of the face.
