Loss of eyebrows, complete, unilateral or bilateral (DC 6023)

Body system: EyeRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.79

This condition covers the complete loss of eyebrows on one or both eyes, whether from injury, burns, disease, or other causes. The VA rates complete eyebrow loss at 10% disability regardless of whether it affects one eyebrow or both. This rating recognizes that eyebrow loss can affect your appearance and may cause issues with sweat and debris getting into your eyes, since eyebrows normally provide protection.

Rating levels

  • 10% — You qualify for this rating if you have completely lost one or both eyebrows due to your military service. The hair loss must be total - meaning no eyebrow hair remains in the affected area, whether it's just one eyebrow or both eyebrows that are gone.
