Loss of eyelashes, complete, unilateral or bilateral (DC 6024)

Body system: EyeRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.79

This diagnostic code covers the complete loss of eyelashes on one eye (unilateral) or both eyes (bilateral). The VA rates this condition at 10% disability regardless of whether it affects one or both eyes. While 10% might seem low, it reflects that this is primarily a cosmetic issue rather than one that significantly impacts vision or daily functioning.

Rating levels

  • 10% — Complete loss of all eyelashes on one eye (unilateral) or both eyes (bilateral) qualifies for this rating. This applies whether you've lost the eyelashes from just one eye or from both eyes. The loss must be total - meaning all the eyelashes are gone, not just some of them.
