Post pancreatectomy syndrome (DC 7357)

Body system: Digestive SystemRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.114

Post pancreatectomy syndrome occurs after you've had part or all of your pancreas surgically removed (pancreatectomy). This creates ongoing digestive problems because your pancreas can no longer produce enough enzymes to break down food or insulin to control blood sugar. The VA rates this condition at a minimum of 30%, but you'll likely receive a higher rating based on your actual symptoms and complications, which are evaluated under other digestive system codes.

Rating levels

  • 30% — You qualify for this rating if you have the minimum level of post pancreatectomy syndrome (complications that occur after surgical removal of part or all of your pancreas). This includes digestive problems like difficulty absorbing nutrients from food, blood sugar control issues, or chronic abdominal pain that requires ongoing medical management but doesn't severely limit your daily activities.
