Vulva or clitoris, disease or injury of (DC 7610)

Body system: Gynecological ConditionsRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.116

DC 7610 covers disease or injury of the vulva or clitoris, including vulvovaginitis (inflammation of the vulva and vagina from infection, irritation, or autoimmune causes such as lichen sclerosus or lichen planus). The VA rates all conditions in this group (DCs 7610-7615) under the General Rating Formula for Disease, Injury, or Adhesions of Female Reproductive Organs — a 3-tier ladder (38 CFR § 4.116) keyed to whether symptoms are controlled by continuous treatment.

Rating levels

  • 30% — You qualify for 30% if symptoms persist despite ongoing medical treatment — medication, hormone therapy, or surgical management is not adequately controlling the condition.
  • 10% — You qualify for 10% if symptoms require continuous treatment (daily medication, ongoing hormonal therapy, recurring procedures) AND treatment is adequately controlling them.
  • 0% — You qualify for 0% if you have a diagnosed condition but symptoms do not require continuous treatment — intermittent flares, mild residuals, or asymptomatic between episodes.
