Ovary, disease, injury, or adhesions of (DC 7615)

Body system: Gynecological ConditionsRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.116DBQ: DBQ GYN Gynecological

DC 7615 covers disease, injury, or adhesions of the ovary — including chronic oophoritis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and the associated metabolic/hormonal manifestations, ovarian cysts (including endometriomas and dermoid cysts), ovarian torsion residuals, and premature ovarian insufficiency or primary ovarian failure. The VA rates this condition under the General Rating Formula for Disease, Injury, or Adhesions of Female Reproductive Organs — a 3-tier ladder (38 CFR § 4.116) keyed to whether symptoms are controlled by continuous treatment. Complete removal of one or both ovaries is rated under DC 7619; bilateral removal also qualifies for special monthly compensation SMC-K (loss of use of a creative organ) under 38 USC 1114(k).

Rating levels

  • 30% — You qualify for 30% if symptoms persist despite ongoing medical treatment — medication, hormone therapy, or surgical management is not adequately controlling the condition.
  • 10% — You qualify for 10% if symptoms require continuous treatment (daily medication, ongoing hormonal therapy, recurring procedures) AND treatment is adequately controlling them.
  • 0% — You qualify for 0% if you have a diagnosed condition but symptoms do not require continuous treatment — intermittent flares, mild residuals, or asymptomatic between episodes.
