DC 7620 covers complete atrophy (wasting) of both ovaries, whatever the cause. The regulation gives it a single rating of 20% (38 CFR 4.116) and requires that both ovaries have completely atrophied; the condition is reviewed for special monthly compensation for loss of use of a creative organ under 38 CFR 3.350.

Rating levels

  • 20% — Both ovaries have completely stopped working and have shrunk significantly in size (atrophy means the tissue has wasted away). This condition means the ovaries no longer produce hormones like estrogen and progesterone, and cannot release eggs for reproduction. The veteran would experience symptoms like missed periods, hot flashes, night sweats, and other effects of having no natural hormone production from the ovaries.
