VA Disability Rating for Stomach, injury of, residuals (DC 7310)

This diagnostic code covers ongoing problems from injuries to your stomach, like those from combat wounds, accidents, or medical procedures. The VA gives this code no percentages of its own. Before any operation, the residuals are rated as adhesions of the peritoneum under DC 7301 (0% to 80% by the severity of pain and obstruction), even though no adhesions need to be present. After an operation, they are rated as chronic complications of upper gastrointestinal surgery under DC 7303 (38 CFR 4.114).

Rating levels

  • Note — Residuals of a stomach injury are rated two ways. Before any operation, they are rated under the criteria for adhesions of the peritoneum, DC 7301, even though no adhesions need to be present; that code runs from 0% to 80% by the severity of pain, obstruction, nausea, vomiting and weight loss. After an operation, they are rated as chronic complications of upper gastrointestinal surgery under DC 7303.
