Benign neoplasms, exclusive of skin growths (DC 7344)

Body system: Digestive SystemRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.114

Diagnostic Code 7344 covers benign (non-cancerous) growths in your digestive system, like colon polyps, lipomas (fatty tumors), and other similar growths. The VA doesn't assign specific rating percentages to this code itself - instead, they'll evaluate your condition based on whatever problems or complications the growths actually cause you. For example, if colon polyps led to bowel problems, they'd rate you under the bowel condition codes with percentages ranging from 10% to 100% depending on severity.

Rating levels

  • -1% — Benign (non-cancerous) growths in the digestive tract are not assigned a percentage on their own. The VA rates whatever functional impairment they cause — affecting the stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, or other digestive organ — under the analogous code for the affected organ, per 38 CFR § 4.114.
