VA Disability Rating for Forearm, amputation of, below insertion of pronator teres (DC 5124)

DC 5124 covers amputation of the forearm below the insertion of the pronator teres muscle. The VA rates it at 70% on the dominant (major) side and 60% on the non-dominant (minor) side under 38 CFR 4.71a. This is an amputation code; loss of use of the hand without amputation is rated under DC 5125.

Rating levels

  • 70% — Amputation of the forearm below the pronator teres insertion (below-elbow amputation) is rated 70% on the dominant side and 60% on the non-dominant side per 38 CFR §4.71a.
  • 60% — Amputation of the forearm below the pronator teres insertion (below-elbow amputation) is rated 70% on the dominant side and 60% on the non-dominant side per 38 CFR §4.71a.
