Five digits of one hand, favorable ankylosis of (DC 5220)

This condition covers when all five fingers on one hand are stuck in a favorable position from ankylosis, meaning the joints are fused but the fingers sit in a way that still allows some basic use of the hand. The VA rates this at 50% if it is your dominant (major) hand or 40% if it is your non-dominant (minor) hand.

Rating levels

  • 50% — Favorable ankylosis (fixation in a reasonable position) of all five digits of the dominant hand is rated 50%. On the non-dominant hand it is 40%.
  • 40% — Favorable ankylosis of all five digits of the non-dominant hand is rated 40%.
