Muscle, neoplasm of, malignant—100 (DC 5327)

Body system: Muscle InjuriesRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.73

This diagnostic code covers malignant muscle tumors (cancer that started in muscle tissue), but it excludes soft tissue sarcomas which have their own rating system. The VA gives this condition a single 100% disability rating, recognizing the serious nature of muscle cancer. This means you'd receive the full disability compensation amount, which reflects that malignant muscle tumors significantly impact your ability to work and function normally.

Rating levels

  • 100% — If you have been diagnosed with cancer that started in your muscle tissue (not including soft tissue sarcoma, which is a different type of cancer), you automatically qualify for this rating. This applies to any malignant tumor (cancerous growth) that originates specifically in muscle tissue, regardless of the stage or how it's affecting your daily activities.
