Body system: Muscle InjuriesRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.73

Rhabdomyolysis is rapid muscle-tissue breakdown that releases proteins into the bloodstream and can damage the kidneys. Diagnostic Code 5330 has no rating percentages of its own. The VA rates each affected muscle group separately under 38 CFR § 4.73 (functional impairment of muscle groups) and combines the evaluations using the combined ratings table at § 4.25. Any chronic kidney complications are evaluated separately under the genitourinary body system, not under DC 5330.
