Malignant neoplasms of the digestive system, exclusive of skin growths (DC 7343)

Body system: Digestive SystemRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.114DBQ: DBQ GI Rectum & Anus; DBQ GI Intestinal (other than surgical or infectious); DBQ GI Esophageal Disorders; DBQ GI Liver Conditions; DBQ GI Gallbladder & Pancreas; DBQ GI Stomach and Duodenum

This diagnostic code covers cancerous tumors anywhere in your digestive system - from your mouth and throat down through your stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and related organs. The VA rates all malignant digestive system cancers at 100% disability while you're receiving treatment or within six months after treatment ends. This means full disability compensation because cancer treatment significantly impacts your ability to work and function normally.

Rating levels

  • 100% — You qualify for this rating if you have been diagnosed with cancer anywhere in your digestive system (stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, esophagus, or other digestive organs), but not including skin cancers that might occur on the surface of these organs. The VA automatically assigns this rating for any active malignant cancer (cancer that can spread to other parts of the body) affecting your digestive tract.
