American leishmaniasis (DC 7807)

Body system: SkinRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.118

American leishmaniasis (also called espundia) is a tropical parasitic disease that affects the skin and mucous membranes, typically contracted in Central and South America. The VA doesn't rate this condition under its own criteria - instead, they evaluate it based on whatever disability is most prominent, such as facial disfigurement, scarring, or ongoing skin inflammation. Your rating percentage will depend on the severity of these visible effects and how much they impact your daily life and employability.
