Benign skin neoplasms (DC 7819)

Body system: SkinRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.118

Benign skin neoplasms are non-cancerous growths on your skin, like moles, skin tags, or cysts that don't spread to other parts of your body. The VA doesn't have specific rating percentages for this condition under DC 7819 - instead, they'll rate it based on how it affects you using other rating codes. This means they'll look at whether it causes disfigurement to your head, face, or neck (rated 0-80%), creates scars (rated 0-80% depending on size and location), or impairs the function of affected body parts.

Rating levels

  • -1% — Benign (non-cancerous) skin neoplasms are not assigned a percentage on their own. The VA rates whatever residuals are most prominent — disfigurement of the head, face, or neck (DC 7800), scars (DC 7801–7805), or impairment of function — under 38 CFR § 4.118.
