Body system: Neurological Conditions and Convulsive DisordersRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.124a

Syphilis, meningovascular is a serious form of syphilis that affects the blood vessels in your brain and spinal cord, causing neurological problems. This diagnostic code doesn't have its own specific rating percentages - instead, the VA will rate your condition based on how it actually affects your neurological function. Your disability rating will depend on your specific symptoms like cognitive problems, seizures, or other brain-related issues, using whichever neurological rating criteria best fits your situation.

Rating levels

  • -1% — Meningovascular syphilis is a form of late-stage syphilis that inflames the membranes around the brain and damages the blood vessels supplying it, often producing stroke-like symptoms. The VA rates whatever neurological deficits remain — paralysis, weakness, cognitive impairment, cranial-nerve damage — under 38 CFR § 4.124a.
