Thyroid enlargement, toxic (DC 7901)

Body system: Endocrine SystemRegulation: 38 CFR § 4.119

Diagnostic Code 7901 covers toxic thyroid enlargement, which is when your thyroid gland becomes enlarged and overactive (producing too much thyroid hormone). However, the VA doesn't rate this condition based on thyroid function. Instead, they evaluate it under DC 7800 for visible scarring or disfigurement of the head, face, or neck. This means your rating will be based on how noticeable the enlarged thyroid is and any cosmetic impact it has on your appearance.
