DC 8727 covers neuralgia of the internal saphenous nerve (inner leg and knee), nerve pain along its course. Under 38 CFR 4.124 neuralgia is rated no higher than moderate incomplete paralysis of the nerve, and for this sensory nerve that level is 0% (38 CFR 4.124a). A higher rating under this code is not possible; the pain is still service connected, and any other condition it causes is rated under its own code.

Rating levels

  • 0% — Under 38 CFR §4.124a, neuralgia of the internal saphenous nerve is rated by reference to the paralysis tiers for the same nerve, up to a maximum of moderate incomplete paralysis. Tic douloureux of the trigeminal nerve is an exception and may be rated up to complete paralysis per the schedule note.
